Pre-school education

Pre-school education is an important link between early childhood education and basic education. During the year of free pre-school education, a child learns a huge number of skills they need when they go to school.

In January of every year, all children who turn six that year and their families will receive a letter either electronically or by post, informing them about the organisation of pre-school education and how to apply for it.

Pre-school education is mainly applied for in January–February. However, the pre-school application can also be filled in at other times, such as when a child moves to Järvenpää in the middle of the activity period. Children are primarily assigned to the pre-school operating in their local school area.
